USA Pickleball rules govern all play except where modified below by C’ville Social and local rules.

USA Pickleball Rules

Team Size

  1. Each team consists of two (2) players on the court at all times. Teams may play with 2 males, 2 females, or 1 male and 1 female.
  2. A game can be played with only one (1) member of a team present to avoid a forfeit.

Scoring

  1. All matches will be self-officiated.
  2. Points are scored only by the serving team.
  3. Matches will consist of three (3) games played to 11, win by 2.
  4. Play all three (3) games, even if a team wins the first two (2) games.
  5. Home team will choose to serve first or choose which side they prefer to play on (not both).
  6. Enter total amount of games won when reporting scores.

Equipment

  1. Please wear tennis shoes and athletic clothes.
  2. You are required to bring your own paddle and balls.

TEAMS

Each team must consist of a minimum of 2 players and a maximum of 4 players, 21 years of age or older. Teams may consist of all males, all females, or co-ed. Teams who have more than 2 players may rotate players between rounds. If a teammate is absent, one substitute can be recruited to play (only during regular session games) or the player may play alone. A team playing with only one player will start each game with a 0-5 score.

COURT LAYOUT

The Bocce court is approximately 60 feet long and 12 feet wide.

EQUIPMENT

C’ville Social provides all the equipment. This consists of 8 Official C’ville Social Bocce balls and 1 pallino (smaller target ball) 4 balls are one color and 4 are a different color.

OFFICIALS

There will be a referee managing game play and questions; however, each game and match will be self-scored and then reported to the referee. Team captains must be cordial and agree on scores.

GAME RULES:

  • League shirts will be provided and are your team?s uniform. They must be worn during league play.
  • For honors (the team that tosses first), Rock, Paper, Scissors will be played (best 2 out of 3 shoots).
  • To start the game, have a player from the starting team stand behind the foul line (which is 10 feet from the throwing end of the court) and throw the small ball, or ?pallino? toward the opposite end of the playing surface.
  • The same person who tossed the Pallino then throws their Bocce ball trying to get it closest to the Pallino without touching it.
  • The next team then throws one ball trying to get closer than the first team. If team two gets closer, then it is Team one?s turn. If Team two?s ball does not come closer, then they continue to throw until they get a ball closer to the Pallino or until they are out of balls. Then Team one throws the remainder of their bocce balls. REMEMBER: You can knock your opponent?s balls away from the Pallino to increase your score.
  • The team with the closest ball gets one point for each of its balls that are closer to the Pallino than the other team?s closest ball.
  • Keep in mind that if the two teams? closest balls are an equal distance from the pallino, no points are awarded.
  • End the frame after all eight balls have been thrown and appropriate points have been awarded. The scoring team begins the next frame. If no team previously scored, the team that threw the pallino last begins the next frame.

SCORING

When all balls have been thrown, the teams shall proceed to measure the distance of the bocce balls from the pallino. Each team?s ball that is closer to the pallino than the nearest ball of the opposing team, scores 1 point. Games are played to a set point, in this case 15.

FOULS & ZERO POINTS

  • If the thrower crosses the foul line and tosses, they lose that toss, and the ball is removed from the court.
  • If someone tosses out of turn, they lose that toss, and the ball is removed from the court.
  • If a player moves one or more of his team’s balls, it or they are removed from the court and considered dead and play continues.
  • If a player moves one or more of his opponent’s balls, those balls are removed and awarded one point each and play continues. Only one team is awarded points, so only the team fouled against can be awarded points.
  • If a player illegally moves the pallino during the frame, the team fouled against will be awarded as many points as the number of balls that team has already played that frame, and the frame will be ended at the point.

FORFEITS:

Teams forfeiting two nights of play in one season are eligible to be removed from the league with no refund. Teams that forfeit their third night of play will automatically be removed from the league with no refund. Teams are encouraged to send at least one player or contact C’ville Social s office to inform us you will be forfeiting.

TIEBREAKERS:

  1. Head to head results.
  2. The least amount of forfeits.
  3. The least amount of games lost.
  4. Rock, Paper, Scissors, best 2 out of 3 shoots.

PLAYER WAIVER & RELEASE FORM

Every player must complete the Player Registration Form prior to the first scheduled game of the season. Any team that has not submitted all their player waivers by that time will have its scheduled games declared a ?forfeit? until all waiver forms are received. If a player fails to submit their online player waiver & release waiver form, all liability and legal issues will be the responsibility of the team captain. Fairfax Athletics will not be responsible for players that do not submit an online player waiver & release form.

Players may be listed only on one team?s roster per season throughout that league night. For a player to be considered ?playoff eligible? (eligible to participate in the playoffs), he/she must be listed on a team?s roster and must have played in a minimum of two regular season games for that team.

C’ville Social CODE OF CONDUCT

  1. Understand, appreciate and abide by the rules of the game.
  2. Respect the integrity and judgment of game officials and C’ville Social staff.
  3. Respect your opponent and congratulate them in a courteous manner following each match whether in victory or defeat.
  4. Be responsible for your actions and maintain self-control.
  5. Do not taunt or bait opponents and refrain from using foul or abusive language.

C’ville Social reserves the right to suspend any player at any time for unsportsmanlike conduct, violation of any rules, for failure to pay appropriate dues or for being disruptive, without any refund. Any team wishing to suspend any member for just reasons, must do so on their own, and provide C’ville Social a written reason as to why. Again, no refunds will be issued. At the discretion of C’ville Social, any member suspended may not in the future be allowed to participate in any further C’ville Social events.

Flipcup Rules

No gender rules for flipcup.

There is absolutely NO alcohol consumption requirement to play in the league. You may use soda or water. No cup should be filled past the 2oz line for league play.

Format

Each team will play 3 matches per night. Each match is a best of 7 game series — first to 4 wins. 2 pitchers will be provided for each game to share between your team. This is enough for a 7 game series if the fill rule lines (2oz) are adhered to.

Games will be 6 vs 6. If a team is down a player, the player leading the round would go twice, flipping the first and last cups in the rotation. If a team is down 2 players, the first 2 players will go first/last. You must have 3 players minimum to avoid a forfeit.

Substitutes are allowed during the regular season with no penalty, though they must sign the waiver form. No substitutions allowed during playoffs.

The league is self-reffed. In case of any disputes, ties, or flagrant errors, the round should be played over.

Drink specials will continue post-game.

Common rule violations and penalties

  1. Using hands to steady the cup after flipping. The flip is counted as invalid and must be re-flipped to continue play.
  2. Lifting a cup too soon. If the previous player’s cup has not settled and the player next in line lifts prior to that, the active player must put their cup back down and re-lift.
  3. Flipping too soon. After drinking, the base of the cup must make contact with the table in an upright position before being flipped. In the event that the cup was flipped before being placed on the table, the cup should be re-flipped.
  4. Spilling. In case of accidental spillage, simply continue the round.
  5. Interference. Opponents may not intentionally blow, bump, throw objects at, or otherwise disrupt the player trying to complete a flip. In this case the violating team will lose the match.
  6. Backboards. Using objects on the table to assist with a successful flip is a violation. In such case, the player must re-flip the cup. Using spilled beer to make the surface more ‘sticky’ is allowed, but a flipped cup should not touch any other objects (stray cups, pitchers, etc) on the table.

That’s enough rules. This is a simple, fun game and an excuse to meet a bunch of new people!

Overview

The C’Ville Social Bar Sports league will be structured as a weekly head-to-head matchup between 2 teams, that will rotate through the 4 assigned sports.? A total of 17 points will be awarded as outlined below (4 for Darts, 4 for Cornhole, 4 for Shuffleboard, and 5 for Flip Cup).? Teams may have up to 6 players on their roster.

Teams

At least 4 players from each team must throw, and teams may rotate other players between turns.

Equipment

All equipment (darts, boards, etc.) will be provided by C’Ville Social. Players are permitted to bring their own darts.

Games Rules

  • Each player throws a maximum of three darts per turn. A player is not required to throw all three darts every turn.
  • Darts that fall off the board at any point do not count and may not be thrown again.
  • Players stand at the ?throw? line. It is legal to lean over the line. They may step on, but not across, the line.

Scoring

  • The object is to close the numbers 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15 and Bull?s Eye in any order before your opponent. A total of 4 points will be awarded for the Darts rotation, 1 point for each win (for example, if Team A wins 3 of the games, they get 3 points, and Team B gets 1 point).

Teams

At least 2 players from each team must throw, and teams may rotate other players between turns.

Court Layout

Boards are placed approximately 27? apart from each other (measuring from the front of each board) for indoor play. ?

Equipment

C’Ville Social provides all the equipment. This consists of 2 Official C’Ville Social Cornhole Boards and 8 bags. ?4 bags are one color and 4 are a different color.

Game Rules

  • For honors (the team that tosses first), Rock, Paper, Scissors will be played with the winner choosing order.
  • Honors will flip-flop each turn.
  • 2 players per team on opposite sides, with 4 bags each. ?Players may rotate between turns, but the same player must take all 4 throws per turn.
  • Opponents alternate tossing the bags onto the board/into the hole, until all 8 bags have been thrown.
  • Bags may be knocked off the board or in the hole by other tossed bags.
  • The thrower must stand behind the front foot line (the front edge of the board) of the Cornhole board. ?They may toss from either side of the board.

Scoring

  • First team to score or exceed 21 points wins the game.
  • 3 points for a bag in the hole and 1 point for a bag on the board.
  • Cancellation scoring. ?For example, Team 1 gets one bag in the hole and one bag on the board = 4 points. ?Team 2 gets one bag in the hole = 3 points. The final score from that round would be Team 1 with 1 point (4-3=1).
  • If the sport rotation comes before a team reaches 21, the highest score after an even number of turns earns the 4 points for the win.

Fouls & Zero Points

  • If the thrower crosses the front foot line and tosses, they lose that toss (give or take a few inches) and the bag may be removed from the board.
  • If someone tosses out of turn, they lose that toss and the bag may be removed from the board.
  • Bags hitting the ground first and rolling onto the board do not count. ?You may remove the bag from the board.
  • Bags hanging off the board and touching the ground do not count.
  • Bags hanging off the board and resting on another bag, which is on the floor, do not count. ?However, if the bag on the ground can be removed without making the hanging bag fall to the ground, then one point is given.
  • If there is any type of interference, the player may toss again.

Teams

Teams will split up in pairs and compete using two shuffleboards. Teams that have more than 4 players may rotate players through in between turns.

Equipment

All equipment will be provided by C’Ville Social.

Game Rules

  • For honors, each team will designate a player, and each designee will attempt to slide their puck closest to the far edge, with the winner choosing order.
  • The team who scored in the last round keeps advantage (goes second) in the next round.
  • 2 players per team on opposite sides, with 4 pucks each. ?Players may rotate between turns, but the same player must take all 4 throws per turn.
  • Opponents alternate sliding the pucks, until all 8 pucks have been thrown.

Scoring

  • First team to score or exceed 21 points wins the game.
  • Knock-off Scoring will be used. The team who has thrown their puck closest to the end of the board scores all the points in that round. Only the pucks that are ahead of your opponent’s deepest weight are added together for the score for that round.
  • If the sport rotation comes before a team reaches 21, the highest score after an even number of turns earns the 2 points for the win for that table.
  • 2 points will be awarded to each table winner, with a total of 4 points awarded for the shuffleboard rotation (i.e. Team A wins on table 1, and Team B wins on table 2; both teams are awarded 2 points)

Teams

The whole team must play; if the number of players present for both teams is unequal, the team with fewer players will designate the required players to go twice.

Equipment

All equipment will be provided by C’Ville Social.

Games Rules

  • Teams will line up on opposite sides of the table, and race one at a time to finish their drink and flip their cup.
  • To flip the cup, it must be placed on the edge of the table and flipped over.
  • If he or she is not successful on the first try, the cup must be reset and re-flipped. ?
  • If two hands are used the flip is not counted and the cup must be reset right side up. ??
  • Only after the first teammate has successfully flipped their cup upside down, can the next person proceed.
  • The team to flip all of their cups first wins that game.
  • If the last two players? (the ?anchors?) cups hit the table at the same time the first cup that comes to rest is the winner.
    • In the event of a true tie, the anchors will have a head-to-head, sudden-death flip off.
  • If one team has fewer players than the other, the necessary vacant spots are set up and start the round vacant. The spots are then filled in order starting with the first player (i.e. – Team A has 4 players, and Team B has 5 players. Team A would set up 5 stations, and player A1 would move to the 5th spot upon completion of his/her turn).

Scoring

  • Teams will play 5 rounds each week.
  • 1 point will be awarded to the winning team for each round, for a maximum of 5 points.
